The beautiful city of Rocky River is situated 9 miles west of downtown Cleveland, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. It is well known to Northeast Ohioans for its vibrant downtown area and abundance of gorgeous green spaces.
Rocky River, Ohio started off as a part of Rockport Township in the early 1800s before becoming a hamlet in 1891, a village in 1903 and finally a city in 1930. It received its name from the Rocky River which forms its eastern border. Rocky River was predominantly rural until the 1920s, when suburban residences and agriculture began to grow in the area. By the 1940s greenhouses and truck farming were popular businesses in the area, and commercial and retail destinations began to pop up along Detroit Road and Center Ridge Road.
