Hudson, Ohio is an affluent community located about 45 minutes southeast of Cleveland. Its historic shopping district, award-winning school district, fine restaurants, and rich history make it one of the best cities to live in Northeast Ohio.

Hudson was first a part of an area known as the Connecticut Western Reserve, a 120-mile Ohio territory claimed by the colony of Connecticut in 1632. It was surveyed by David Hudson in 1799. He returned a year later with his family to settle there until his death in 1838. The Hudson family home, 318 Main Street, still stands today and is the oldest building in Summit County. Hudson was also an important link in the Underground Railroad. Several tunnels still remain beneath the city’s streets, and many of the 19th century homes still have secret rooms and passageways.

Today, approximately 22,245 people (2017) call Hudson home. The Hudson City School District is ranked as one of the best schools in Northeast, Ohio, making Hudson one of the most popular communities for families with children to take up residence. Hudson is well known for its gorgeous historical homes as well as its large, stunning colonials and beautiful townhomes, condos and apartments. These are just a few among many reasons why people are always looking for homes for sale in Hudson.

The most popular attraction in Hudson is without a doubt First and Main, the historic shopping district that runs along Main Street. Residents and visitors can pick up a new book from the Learned Owl Book Shop, purchase toys and games from the Land of Make Believe, or find a new outfit from local and national clothing stores such as White House Black Market or Jos. A Bank. Hudson is also known for having some of the best restaurants in Cleveland, including 3 Palms Pizzeria, One Red Door, Rosewood Grill, and Luchita’s Mexican Restaurant. Each year, thousands of people attend the Taste of Hudson festival, where they can enjoy live entertainment and try food, wine and beer from different vendors.

Hudson features plenty of green space, with 21 parks that span across over 1,100 acres such as the Summit Metro Parks. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful hiking trail, a fishing pond, or playgrounds and picnic areas, Hudson parks have something for everyone.
